The Silva Mind Control Method - Jose Silva - Review

Not many would have heard about spontaneous remissions in cancer patients, less than a few dozen cases are captured in medical literature each year and hence largely underplayed or rather unknown. Spontaneous remissions means that the disease has reverted itself to normal conditions without treatment and the reasons for reversal can’t be explained from a medical standpoint. Well, I am just giving a gist of the immense powers of the mind and for the curious one’s do check Sam J Shelly’s ‘I don’t dwell’ book wherein he explains how he got out of cancer without formal treatment.

Our mind operates or dwells in one of the 4 category of brain waves

(i) Delta (±0 to 4 Hz)

(ii) Theta (4‐8 Hz)

(iii) Alpha (8‐13 Hz)

(iv) Beta (13‐20 Hz)

Most of us operate in the Beta zone during our active time period which can comprise a range of activities like walking, working, eating, driving or any other form of physical pursuit. However, to tap into the enormous powers of mind, an individual will have to quieten the hyperactive beta state and bring it down to alpha which comprises a wavelength range 8 to 13 hz. Usually, a person experiences alpha during sleep or just a few minutes after waking up when the mind transitions from theta to beta state.

Getting into alpha state during awake time period calls for diligent practice and Silva has elaborated on his method to get into the said state. Initially, getting into an alpha state, which in understandable term is a meditative state of mind, will be hard to arrive at with a lot of chatter and distractions constantly occupying mind space. Hence, as a first step it’s important to just observe the chatter and consciously let them go without enforcing or suppressing thoughts. Over a period of time, alpha state can be obtained within a countdown of 5, thereby making the process quicker.

The power of visualisation is the next step, if an individual can clearly perceive an outcome on their mental screens, it’s a sign of having acquired an advanced state of mind. However, it takes consistent practice combined with a distraction free environment to arrive at a certain level during the initial stages. Once a clear stage of visualisation is attained then there are a range of life changing pursuits like self healing, finding the ideal opportunity, problem solving, overcoming hurdles and plenty more can be accomplished.

On a quick note, Jose Silva was an electronics repairman who lived during the mid twentieth century. The spark came from the realisation that an efficient electric circuit is the one with least impedance similarly a mind with least resistance can be not just effective but mighty powerful. All of his ten kids scored average grades in academics but through his mind control techniques, he coached all of them to acquire straight A’s, infact during a quiz session they can call out the next question before it's even voiced out, which is broadly known as ESP (extrasensory perception). Silva explains all his methods in depth providing plenty of real life cases across the book and Vishen Lakhiani’s mindvalley organisation conducts courses to guide participants through the process. Certainly worth a read while the practice can be left for the serious ones!

This is interesting, and resonates quite well with a lot of books like Secret, Biology of Belief!
