12 Points to make a Professional LinkedIn Profile


Lets check on some of the key points to make your Linkedin profile look professional


1. Have a Professional Head Shot.

2. Have a Compelling Headline. This is not a space to mention your job title.

3. Have your firms name and logo visible.

4. Ensure that you have provided your firm’s email id and not personal mail id. Giving your mobile number is optional

5. Use an appropriate cover image, ideally this should reflect on your line of business.


6. About column is like your 30 seconds pitch, ensure that all your key LCD is covered in this column.


7. Featured column gives you the space to post some nice videos of your firm, highlight previous post’s in Linkedin, article related to your business or some web content. This column can be the most engaging component of your profile.



8. Experience Column gives you the space to provide the following

(i) Title of your role in the organization
(ii) Duration or time period of your association with the organization
(iii) In the description part, give in bullet points on what your prospect should know about your capabilities or organization’s capabilities

9. Not many know about this point, you can change the last part of your profile URL and make it look professional. Look at the last part of my profile URL

Now look at someone who has not made this change. So, when sharing your LinkedIn profile URL, the one above looks a lot better than the one below

To make this change go to edit public profile & URL and make suitable modifications to the last part.



 
10. Ensure that your education institutions, degree and the respective period of taking the course are mentioned.


11. Recommendations column gives you a credibility factor. Ask for testimonials from your clients or your colleagues.



12. The activity column gives a very clear indication to the prospect on what’s your line of interest, this is your trail of activity. So, there is a need to be careful on what impression will be created on your prospects and network. Use it effectively along with a certain degree of caution.

Guidelines

(i)    Don’t add people in random. Connect only to people whom you know.
(ii)    Try to add all your clients and colleagues in LinkedIn network.
