The Spirit of life !

A beautiful and bushy mid sized tree stood pleasantly a few yards away from my residence. It was home to a lone aves family that designed an intricate web of twigs so that they can rest and procreate at will. The nest provides safe haven to augment the members of their family, a cocoon in which birds can lay their eggs, hatch them, nurture the hatchlings and teach the fledglings to fly. Every morning, the pair composes a rhythmic tune, letting the neighbours know that they are happy and high.

The tree showcased itself to be a steady host as well, giving the birds it's shelter during sunshine and rain while the morning musicals proved to be the premium paid by the birds for the services offered by the tree. The harmonious relationship between the two continued for a little over six months before disaster struck.

The withered leaves spread in circular fashion around the trunk of tree, a misaligned rangoli that changes shape everyday due to layers of abandoned falcate that was once a part of foliage.  My spouse being a women of cleanliness and order, the leaves were swept away during the initial months but the persistent fall in dozens on a regular basis provoked her to contemplate a permanent solution for the clean up act. In my absence, the branches of the tree were cut down reducing the state of the tree to a trunk sans leaves, appearing like a decapitated body.

Having seen the state of the tree in the absence of it's leafy head a few days later, I felt it was now only a log of wood standing in vertical fashion. I couldn't help but feel the pain, my own story reflected the similar state of affairs, whenever I had set myself up to grow in a corporate ladder, an antagonist arrives to dutifully cut me down in size. Alas, one can only rue at the ill fate encountered by my tree or myself.

About a month rolled over, a cursory glance over the presumed wood log caught me by surprise, fresh shoot of thick leaves started sprouting on the arms of the trunk giving clear indications that it's on the path to recovery. While I declared it dead, it was busy working underground and setting itself to grow again with all it's enthusiasm. Maybe the tree missed the voice of cockoo and is desperate to get back it's leafy head with cushion branches so that the musical concert can be heard again.

The observation provides a nugget of wisdom, it doesn't matter how many times we are cut down in size, as long as we are not uprooted, it's out duty to keep growing again, stronger and resilient than before. A true spirit of life lies in showcasing an ability to grow against all odds, not once or twice but till the moment of heavenly abode.
